Can adoption be good for my baby and for me?

If you are not ready to be a parent, you can still give your baby the gift of life by choosing adoption. You can plan for your baby’s future by selecting a stable, loving family to care for your baby. After birth, you can see your baby and spend time with your baby as desired. Finally, you can be proud that you chose life for your baby.

What is open adoption?

In adoption, there are levels of openness.  The birth family and the adopted child have the potential, in the future, to develop a one-on-one relationship with each other. The birth family and adoptive family can agree on varying levels of openness, from meeting in person, to exchanging communication, letters and/or pictures through the agency, or to complete confidentiality if you so desire.

Will my child go into foster care?

In most cases, infants are placed directly from the hospital into the adoptive home of your choice. Loving Choice is a private agency so your child will not be placed into the public foster care system. Loving Choice has a private foster family that can help our agency for a few days if needed to care for infants that may be released from the hospital prior to completion of legal paperwork.  NO OTHER PUBLIC OR PRIVATE AGENCIES HAVE ACCESS TO THIS FOSTER FAMILY.

How can I be sure my child will be well cared for?

Adoptive families approved by Loving Choice must meet very demanding standards. Potential adoptive parents come from a variety of backgrounds and are thoroughly evaluated on a number of issues including stability of relationships, readiness for parenting, emotional maturity and financial status to name a few. We will discuss our waiting families with you and give you the opportunity to choose a family for your infant.

Do I need an attorney or do I pay an agency to assist me with adoption?

An independent attorney will be provided to represent you at no cost to you.
